media training

I offer media and communications workshops or one-to-one sessions designed to ensure that the next time you address a live mic or a rolling camera, you’re equipped to get your message across effectively. My expertise covers a range of communication and broadcast skills, including: framing your interviews, building confidence and presence, developing and amplifying your key messages and dealing with hostile media questions.

My particular focus is working with people from diverse ethnic and class backgrounds, as well as with experts across a range of subjects, who may need help communicating their expertise to a wider audience. All training can be tailored to your exact needs, so please drop me a line using the contact form below for more details or try me on Twitter.

Testimonials

"Rachel is highly skilled, experienced, and professional with a deep understanding of journalism, human rights and politics – perfect for our media training workshops with human rights defenders. She’s also a real pleasure to work with."
- Kristyan Benedict, campaigns manager, Amnesty International UK

"Rachel is an outstanding trainer. Her sensitivity when dealing with those who had very little experience with media interviews was exceptional and gave them enormous confidence when it was time to practice the skills she had given them, in front of the camera. The structure of the training, from theory to practice with excellent examples as well as anecdotes from her own great deal of experience, saw participants not only have a better understanding of what makes a good interview but feel like they could now give one. One participant described Rachel's training as 'The best, of any kind, I have ever had.'" - Roslyn Boatman, media and communications, Oxfam (Jerusalem)

"Rachel's wealth of experience, crisp communication style and deep care for her craft provide the hard skills and the resilience necessary to walk into newsrooms and effectively communicate messages. Rachel provides a highly personalised coaching experience that is attuned to the individual's background and expertise." - Just Vision

"We would not hesitate to engage Rachel again. She has wide-ranging expertise of the media world, an engaging style and an ability to work with participants to develop their understanding and knowledge in such a way that they can go on and successfully put their learning in to practice." - Edinburgh Women's Aid
